Spread Happiness Through McCain- The Secret Recipe

This post has been written for McCain India

When you have a plate of McCain,
You just cannot help but blame,
The yummy snacks make you salivate,
and forget the times you had to wait,
Now mom has a new recipe to make me happy,
When my day had been crapy.
McCain smilies are just not any frozen food
It's food for soul, that gets me into mood.

McCain with its intention to put smiles on our faces has so far succeeded by giving us umpteen ways of redoing the way its made.

And I like my food filled with veggies even if its just for a snack. Here is how I re-constructed my McCain snacks into an amazing yummy filled meal with my chai with friends.

Ingredients:

Mozzarella cheese (Or cottage cheese if you want more healthy)
Tomato
Onions
Capcicum
green chillies

Procedure:

  1. Chop the vegetables into tiny bits and decorate each McCain Aloo Tikki with them.
  2. Grate the cheese over it
  3. Preheat the oven for 10 minutes before putting the snacks inside
  4. Turn up the heat and let them bake for another 10 minutes
Now you have yummy potato snacks that give you the aromas of fresh veggies and your favourite cheese.

And then i called my friends over for a tea party that I had specially organised in the evening, desperately needing some girl time over the weekend. I had to impress the boss's wife as well. That, and get compliments from my friends for my cooking skills. I am not really a great cook but with the help of some McCain, I was able to impress as well bake some more because the plate was wiped off within minutes. Now I always make sure that I keep a packet in my freezer for emergencies guests as well since we are very social and like to meet people. So now I do not have to plan really a ahead and know how to work around McCain snacks and get compliments from all!

Pizza Nights For children (of any age)

When your toddler loves junk food then why not just make it at home. You will know what to add and you will know that it would have more veges than cheese. Although mozzarella cheese is considered very good for children, just not in excess please.
I have used a round oven at home which is very easy to use and the pizza comes out better than from the microwave. Its the old traditional gadget of making pizza, cakes and snacks at home within the army circle. Army wives eventually do take up baking as their hobby and I for one love cooking special dishes once in a while. Although I am far from being an expert, I can whip up a decent pizza at home.

To make a Chicken Tikka Pizza

Ingredients:

  1. Mozzarella cheese (grated)
  2. Pizza base
  3. onions
  4. tomatoes
  5. capsicum
  6. Tomato sauce/ pasta sacuse
  7. Oregano
  8. Chilli flakes

Procedure:

  1. Spread the tomato sauce, cheese and the other veges on top of the pizza base
  2. Roast the chicken piece on your stove or oven and shred it to pieces beforehand
  3. Pre-heat the oven to 220 degrees
  4. Baste the cake tin with butter and place the pizza base carefully inside.
  5. Let it bake for 20 min.
  6. Voila! yummy pizza is ready

I used a cake tin to bake

B is for Bread for fussy toddlers

Now that my toddler who is just short of a month in turning 3 has started going to school. It gives me great pleasure getting up early and getting him ready. I am not a morning person but when you know that you have a kid that's going to be taken care of for a few hours with the rest of the day for yourself, you automatically get wings.

Churachanpur is a happening little town in Manipur and its schooling is surprisingly good. Children excel in arts, music and science and the teachers are kind and sweet. I found one for my kid. Vivaan is going to kindergarten now but what to pack for his snacks is a big question mark for me. So I started with bread. The most easiest form of snack that could be ready in two minutes.

Ingredients

Bread (Preferably milk bread)
Mayonnaise

Procedure

Cut the brown sides of the bread and apply mayo in good quantity. Then make four pieces with the bread cutter. Be sure to make it kid friendly size because they usually gobble down their food.
