5 peppy and fun sitcoms to see now!

If you want to know, I do not have a social life when I am away from my husband. I enjoy being a loner, stick to my writing and actually not meet unless they make an effort. Which I know, no one does these days. But to have some fun and peppy sitcoms to watch at home can actually unwind you. So here is the list of sitcoms you should watch.

Impastor: You have this conman in a small town where he finds people who believes in him to be this God man that he really isn't and thats the fun part. Unintentionally he helps people with his weird quotes from the Bible that is really made up in his mind.

Mike And Molly: Mellisa McCarthy is obviously a hit among all. And this sitcom about her relationship with her husband's mother and her family is really so funny that you actually get her. She does look kind of fantastic even with a little weight. The guy who's the husband does a pretty great job with comedy and this is going to be my all time favourite.

Dr Ken: Remember the guy from Hangover movies series? well, you can find him here with an adorable family and guess what, he is a doctor from Korea only very American! I love this guy because his quips are just amazing! His quirky family is another feather in the hat which I must say- makes me laugh a lot.

Fresh Off The Boat: This Chinese family is going to make you happy and how? well they just have the most adorable parents. The mother wants to be very-Chinese and follow the traditions while the father is more chill, caring and wanting his wife to keep off his territory so that she could find another hobby than pin pointing mistakes of his employees. Their sons also have an amazing part. More like Wonder Years, reminded me a lot of the soap but still it has a good story.

Best Time with Neil Patrick Harris: Now if you miss your Barney then here he is with some really interesting...wait for it...Legen-dary quips on his show. He invites random people for stories, really heartfelt and gives them amazing prizes and gifts. He also invites a celebrity to host for one show and its great with some music adding to it.

These are a few shows I follow and I love it for show good it makes me feel. Anyway sitcoms should be fun and not very difficult to deal with. And I think there is nothing wrong in watching tv
I do watch thriller once in a while but then I can make another list for that. Do let me know if you watched any of these. Perhaps we could share notes.

Music And Love- Ek Choti Si Love Story (Part 2)

The washroom was empty. And spacious. Enough for her to puke her brains out. Tia didn't know what was wrong with her. Until she saw Viaan. The man she had been friends with all her life. Hell, she even remembered showering with the garden pipe together after the holi celebrations. How old were they? Nine right?

"You can't handle alcohol. How many times have I told you?"

"And how many times have I asked you to back-off!" Tia couldn't talk. She chocked. And when the slimy vomit was out of her mouth and stuck in a really bad way, she wished the earth swallowed her.
RIGHT NOW!

"Here, have this", And she felt cool water washing her queasiness away, He pushed her hair away and she felt his palms wiping away the tears.

Was she crying? She didn't realise it.

"I am not crying".

"Okay", then he was pulling her closer, hugging her in the most natural way. As if they had never fought and never been angry at each other, "You don't have to let your mom get to you".

"You know how she is". He knew that. A home body all her life, she had a difficult time letting her only daughter go. In a way Tia held on to her parents the same way. Had they not fought about it several times?

"You had this much in London, last time we went clubbing".

"I went clubbing. You just followed me".

He laughed and looked into her eyes, "You looked ravishing in that black dress. And heels. Who can forget the heels!"

"You pervert! You always had a thing for women in high heels", she could laugh now, his embrace felt comforting.

"You know what? I will help you move in".

"There's a great one bedroom flat thats empty in my building".

She frowned at him, "In your building. That will cost me a bomb", she knew that he has been earning well in that software company. Earning more then her with the trips he kept taking abroad, "And I just want something simple".

"Move in with me. I have a three bed apartment and its just wasting away", when she didn't answer he insisted, "We could get back to practising music again. remember how much you loved though peppy numbers on guitar?"

"You are a better singer than me", she admitted and the memories started warming her up, "I will think about it".

"It will be cheaper you know", he grinned innocently, "Since you just have to pay minimal rent".

"Okay okay...tomorrow I'll tell you. My mom will kill me if she knows that I am living with you".

"As friends", he added quickly and let her go. Suddenly everything seemed so bright and beautiful.

The music got loud outside and he felt like dancing on a tune or two. His plan was coming to form.

10 foods every Bengali Loves

I am half bong, proud to be. I love the loud short tempered thinkers of my clan and I adore their way of celebrating life. My mom still wanted us to choose our own grooms and I really couldn't think about marrying one. Or I couldn't find one. No, I really do not regret the decision. All I wanted was a loving husband and thats the only religion of ours- LOVE. But my love for food never stops and I have a few favourites in the list.

Manshho bhaat (Lamb Curry): This dish is made in a light watery curry that will feel very rich despite being light. A favourite at home, we used to have them on sunday afternoons and what's best about it is the after taste it leaves. Bhaat is plain white rice.
Disclaimer: You will get addicted to it yumminess.

Machar Jhol (Fish Curry in Tamarind sauce): You know that fish soup that you heard so much about that tastes sour on the tongue but thats what great about the curry. Fish fired lightly before put in the sauce and mustard seeds. You got to have this one!

Aloo Poshtoh: (Mashed Potatoes) Potatoes thats boiled mixed with mustard oil, onions and green chillies. Its had with plain rice with a lot of gusto.

Zhinja Poshto: (Prawn curry) If you like the pawn curry with mustard oil and seeds then this a dish to try at least once.

Tamatar Mishti Chutney (Sweet n sour Tomato sauce) A dish served with almost anything, this homemade tomato sauce has spices with amazing versatility to eat with almost anything.

Paesh (Sweet dessert with rice)A favourite at the Durga Puja celebrations, this dessert is enjoyed hot in the end of khichidi.

Machher Muda (Fish head with Pumpkin) Fish head is supposed to be full of mercury, very good for the brain and thus mixed with sweet pumpkin,

Puchka (Pani puri or fried wheat with tamarind water) This is a famous snack of every Indian and if you want to get back to your peppy mood then this is the thing to have. It is filled with mashed potatoes and soar tamarind water which is also supposed to be a great digestive.

Aloo Dum (Potatoes curry) this is cooked slowly in the earthen pot with closed lid for hours where the floor lingers when you open it to eat.

Ghugni (dried white peas in curry) This was my mom's evening snack served us and we just love its aroma. It feels homely and very filling and healthy. Also served with puckhka.

I hope I did justice to what I know about the Bong dishes because even though I do not speak the language, it does hold special memories at Dida's house and I wouldn't mind these dishes any time of the day. And not only are they tasty, they also have health benefits where mustard oil actually benefits you more than vegetable oil.

5 Peppy Outfits Every Girl Should have!

When it comes to dressing up, we all know that girls need a change of outfit to match their moods. And Here are the five outfits that every girl should have that could also be a staples for your wardrobe. Although I love writing, fashion is something that will always pull me in.

A flowy Skirt:

If you want to give your feminine side a go, then skirts will make you feel like a princess. And who said you can only wear them at formals or family functions? All you need is a casual top and you are ready to give your skirt a little outing. I prefer to wear a crop top to go with this.

A funky Scarf:

If you want to look peppy with a plain outfit then you know that a scarf would do the trick. Even if you are not much of a jewellery person, the scarf will do the trick of completing your outfit. You don't have to spend a lot of it and pick a peppy design that would go with most of your wear.

A Crop Top:

The one I am wearing goes with my skirts and with my sarees. In fact it's so versatile that I just love it! Obviously you can pair it with some funky jewellery and you will have an amazing outfit to go out.

Flower patterns:

If you are living in 2016 then you should know that flowers as a pattern is really in. I love the monochrome still but this out just wins my heart. It feels girly yet sophisticated and with so many outfits like lehengas, Sarees, tops and ktrties as an option, flowers truly are here to stay.

 Sunglasses:

The most important thing we always forget is sunglasses when we are out. Scientifically it helps us from the UV rays, keeping us protected from the harsh sun. Of course one more thing we wear it because it enhances and completes an outfit. Don't go for the usual sunglasses and opt for wafers or Lenon glasses. It adds to the quotient and you look amazing!

Now that you have the list of things that you should add in your wardrobe, be sure to shop with caution and buy what you could carry off with most of your clothes. I won't lie, I am a hoarder. I am really working on that and not buying just because I want to. I buy when I have to. Occasionally choosing something that could go with several outfits and help me save some money. But its not necessary to go with the trends sometimes. If you have a style that you don't want to change then just add it somewhere in a small way to sparked your outfit. You will like the newness and it won't be long before you start loving the look!

Music For Kids- Yes, its a thing!

When you come to children, all you come to know are the old time rhymes. Its good for them of course but children need soothing music sometimes peppy that will make them what they are today. In fact studies have shown that behaviour of kids depends a lot on how busy their minds are. If they are watching violent cartoons then they will definitely portray the same behaviour outside or at home. Thats why I think channels like Nick Jr, Baby TV and Disney Junior is just the best channels you can give to your child. They will learn a lot and in turn show milder signs of naughtiness. Not that they won't spoil a kid or you shouldn't have a TV time because honestly how long will they sit in front of the idiot box.

My son has turned 3 and half and I see him mimicking the songs he sees on tv. Which is good. It develops his language skills and he can sing a tune or two too. When he was an infant and i was breastfeeding mom, so I would be like dead tired to sing to him but I did get a beautiful musical box where it tuned to music that would put you to sleep. One of the best gifts I got from my sister. And no wonder he loves music so much.

Lullaby are also a great way to introduce your child to music. Anything you can sing it to them, they will love it. You really don't have to be Beyonce or Lata Mangeshkar to sing. Just make up something that has a soothing rhythm and you will have a happier child waking up to you. My favourite is Rock-a-By Baby which works like magic. Also you will have routine which is good even for you. You can cuddle and love him while you sing to him/her. I feel like a good mom when I sing to him on days when I am really a monster to him. I wish music solved everything. But to an extent it does gives me solace.

I also love the "feelings" songs in Nick Jr that asks the child to express what he/she feels and we get all excited to see this on tv. Its a great song to have when you want your child to learn to communicate. Mine took a lot of time to open up but I am happy that he does say what he is feeling.

List of songs for your children: (Hindi and English)

  1. Rock-A-Bye Baby
  2. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
  3. Hush Lil Baby
  4. Mere Ghar aayi ek Nanhi Pari
  5. Chanda hai tu, mera suraj hai tu
  6. Do Naina Ek Kahani
  7. My Bonnie lies over the ocean

There are some of the songs I sing to my baby. What are your favourites? Comment below and I would be happy to add to my list.

A Peppy Pastor- A Gay Love Story

Somewhere in New York, 2016

Pastor Eric had a lot in his mind. The day he started his sermon at this quaint village of Aniyada, he knew that something was wrong. That man, he reminded him of someone. And he had been having a lot of dreams that made him want to give up his calling. But then when he was poor, going days without food, he knew that this was the only way he could provide for his family. But his family was not something he could boast about. The money he got from the ministry was often spent like water. His sisters needed new dresses and his mother needed something for already decked up house. His father needed it for alcohol and he, who supposedly changed people's lives, couldn't change his family. What he did believe that, one day they will.

"You should find a nice girl and get married. People rely more on married pastors".
His mother always had these suggestions that didn't concern her. But then did she actually know what he wanted?

"You should know that you don't make sense mom. You know that I never want to get married".

But girls were flocking in his church. He got lame psychological monologues from teenagers, who batted their eyes more than they spoke. It was uncomfortable. The odd part was the he was not interested in women.

A fact that didn't scare him at all. Or shame him. All he knew that he loved one man all his life. The man who had made his heart flutter and when he died, cancer eating his body away, he knew that he could never be the same. Only God gave him solace.

And that was 18 years ago. He was 41 now and still good looking. If he wanted to find someone, he would. But the days went by slowly, and evenings his heart hurt.

Then he saw him. A young man, sitting with everyone, staring at him with devotion that he was so used to.

"Can I speak with you after sermon?"

Pastor Eric shivered. Half excited to see a familiar face and half scared that his dream would break.

"I do not have a free evening...I'll let you know when we can talk".

And just looking at him, he could find solace. And he looked so young. Hardly 18.

He shrugged and walked away.

Eric was known as a exuberant, peppy kind of a person. He knew how to raise someone's spirits and make them smile. He was happy to help, forget his sadness and that mattered.

"I know you have been avoiding me Pastor. But I really need to talk to you".

"Fine", it was uncomfortable and they walked into his office.

"I have a girlfriend".

Okay. That took time to digest.

"And we have vowed to wait for...you know...".

Eris sat back, rubbing his forehead, "For sex? You are doing the right thing. Is that all?" he almost got up.

"No I mean, we want to. Its not like we are going to get married".

"At least you are honest. What do you want from me?"

"That you convince me not to. To wait?"

"Uh, yes...Umm..."

The young boy sat back, folded his hands, "You know your face looks familiar like I have seen your earlier. But I was always in this town. I don't know..."

We were friends, lovers, soul mates, Eric wanted to say. But he kept mum.

"You know sex is a weird thing. You want to do it for the heck of it. You know that its something everyone is doing and your girlfriend so hot that you can't keep your hands off but you also know that you need to do the right thing. So discuss. If you think you want to do it then know that you put your heart and soul to it. Because sex is just a physical thing. It will fade. The connection wouldn't".

"Your are right", the boy seemed reluctant to go, "Can I see you again?"

"Of course", Eric didn't want to know the details, "Use protection of course".

He did know that the young people were doing it, despite him saying its wrong before marriage. But it was better to advise it this way.

"You know you have a certain thing about you that makes me wanna break up with my girlfriend", the boy laughed. It was forced and he sounded scared.

"I am a man of God. And that's all i am ever going to be".

Eric watched him go. He knew that he was going to come back. Yet he knew that he was going to leave the city and apply for transfer.
Some love stories are meant to end.

Music Therapy For A Beautiful Day

There is therapy for the mind and then there is therapy for the soul. This is where you come to Music- as a medium that connects you with your inner self.

Why do we need to listen to music?

And why not? I ask. People you workout, do yoga and also who seek solace in different kind of exercise, it has been proved that music is the first factor that gives you the motivation to achieve your goals. No wonder I find myself lost without my iPod and my headphones, in fact updating it comes first thing on my mind whenever I am free. I keep collecting music as well. So, well Music works well for me. Stress is also the biggest factor that makes us perform less than our potential. You are in a crappy mood in office, you bring that mood at home, do not discuss anything with your family and sleep with that mood, only to wake up crappy. Do you notice the vicious circle here? Before you loose your sense of self, try giving 'music' a chance.

How can you begin with Music, if you are a beginner?

When we all begin our day, it always starts with a hurry bury blur of activities. Making breakfast for everyone, packing your stuff for the office, choosing the right outfit and when you are done with all this, you just feel drained. Instead choose a playlist for your day and just switch it on as and when you wake up. I prefer to keep my speaker close to my bed and just when I do not feel like getting up, i play music. It has to be something peppy for me to actually start my day.

Isn't music distracting?

It really depends on what kind of work you are doing. Often a light buzz of Mozart or Brian Silas piano doesn't make a difference to your work. Even if its technical. As a writer I can vouch for the effect it has on my work. I love listening to a romantic number (mood varies) when i am writing a novel. In fact several creative people use 'music' as a source of inspiration. So have you found yours yet?

What kind of music should I listen to?

Its not necessary that you need to have a set genre fixed for it to work. If you like Sufi or Gazals then go for it. If English pop songs make your day then do not hesitate to switch it on. Share your love for music and try to understand the lyrics to make yourself more approvable to others. Rap (even Honey Singh) makes your heart skip a beat then do not go for anyone judging your choice. After all music is just here to spread love, give you love and make you free.

Even if you have a tight schedule, make time to just listen and see a change in your attitude which will not only effect you but also the people around you.

Top 5 Bollywood Music 2015

The year had truly went by quickly and all I could think of was music and of course the most awaited Bollywood movies. Somehow I do characterise a move with its music and I have come to the conclusion that I did find my top ten favourites.

Dum Lagake Haisha no doubt had the most haunting songs with Anu Malik doing a commendable job of actually being original and not giving in to the fads of item songs. Thanks god for the peppy number SUNDAR SUSIL...I just love that song. Even heard it playing at weddings and tapped a foot of two here and there. The other one is MOH MOH KE DHAAGE which is undoubtedly sung by two most talented singers- PAPON and MOULI THAKUR.

Badlapur surprised many and shocked a few. And the song JEENA has just taken my breath away. Wondering how Atif Aslam gets better every year. Obviously not in the league of the usual singers, I vote this song as an all time favourite of mine!

Tamasha, though a little over the head, was a movie that would motivate many. Like Rockstar, Ranbir Kapoor choose a very different script to work with, his grandfather being an inspiration for sure. Obviously theater in his veins, he just rocked my world with the music in the movie. The sad number-  Andheri Raatein and Agar Tum Ho is sure to make you cry cry and..well, cry. Breakup- no good man!

Dil Dharakne Do, though a very, how do I put it lightly, very low brainless movie of 2015, didn't have much of the music to talk about. Although my workout sessions loved the lovey-dovey song PEHLI BAAR. Its just a song, you have to hear, dance your heart out and save it on your playlist forever!

Tanu Weds Manu Returns, was a great rib ticking dramatic comedy. And that one song that did make my day was BANNO- SWAG. The bonus was Kangna who is my all time favourite heroine who really has the guts to do what her heart says. Of course the movie is a bonus. I did miss the haunting music of its prequel but then i am sure the pressure of a good script surpassed and I am pretty happy with my choice.

What 2015 had was not much to work with and I am looking forward to adding a few more numbers in my playlist. I am more of a listener than a watcher, so I collect music in my database forever. What I like about the list is that, nothing sounds the same and the variety and the creativity of our music directors is commendable.

If you want to add some of your favourite music then go ahead and tag me in the comments. I would like some more music, some more talented pieces to hear in the year 2016!
